Foodtech & Pharmatech Taipei next essay on June 22 with 4 concurrent events

With Foodtech & Pharmatech Taipei, the Taiwan capital’s international food processing and pharma machinery show, scheduled to be held from June 22 to 25, 2016, just a couple of months away, members of the media from countries such as India, Malaysia and Japan recently, were offered a glimpse of its contents through a three-day pre-show tour comprising presentations and plant visits organised across the country. The newspersons visited two companies every day during the period.
The show, to be held at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, TWTC Exhibition Hall 1, will include four concurrent events - Food Taipei (Taipei Int'l Food Show), Taipei Pack (Taipei Int'l Packaging Industry Show), HORECA (Taiwan Int'l Hotel Restaurant & Catering Show), and Halal Taiwan (Taiwan Int’l Halal Expo). The event is popularly known as 5-in-1 show.

Regarded as one of Asia’s largest events, the show is being organised by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), along with government, industry associations, and several commercial organisations. TAITRA is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organisation in Taiwan. It assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers in reinforcing their international competitiveness and coping with the challenges they face in foreign markets.

Day 1
Taiwan Hon Chuan Enterprise Co., Ltd (THC)
THC is going to be one of the biggest exhibitors at the show this year. Established in 1969, THC has evolved into a company offering 360 degree solutions for packaging and filling services to beverage industry. The four decades of experience of the company has been accumulated and treasured as ‘Taiwan Hon Chuan Enterprise Packaging Cultural Creative Museum.’ The museum gives a brief background on the evolution of packaging concept over the years by focussing on every component of packaging like containers, caps, and labels used since the beginning of human activity till date.
Keith H C Dai, president, Taiwan Hon Chuan Group, said, “Now, with the progressive technology, packaging at THC is lightweight, recyclable, low carbon footprint, and carbon labelled. Lately we have designed a new marketing strategy to enter e-commerce platform for marketing. Moreover, we have expansion plans in Japan - starting a warehousing facility and reaching maximum customers.”
With regard to the participation in the event, he said, “We are excited for the event and keen to demonstrate current visitors and new visitors our packaging material, moulds and designs.”
The company is already known as the No. 1 packaging company in Myanmar and is rapidly growing in other Southern Asian regions. The company would focus on South Asia, the Middle-East and China to tap customers at the show.


Ma Yu Shan Foods Co., Ltd
Established in the year 1965, Ma Yu Shan Foods’ healthy product portfolio comprises cereal products like soups, porridge, nutritional grain powder, fine multigrains, almond powder, pestle cereal, sesame cereal, black sesame meal, black sesame, white sesame, and nutritious cereal.
The products are developed by the research and development department of the company complying to most of the regulatory standards for beverages. The company follows highest principles associated with factors such as natural and healthy and zero contamination, colour pigment and artificial flavour.


Day 2
Ou-Dean Food Co., Ltd

It is one of the leading companies in the beverage segment in Taiwan offering a vast beverage portfolio comprising aloe vera juice, fruit juice, cold coffee, and Chia seeds-based fruit drinks. The company has acquired many export certificates and is present in 75 countries including India. From among the vast portfolio of the company,’ ‘black fungus-based soft drink’ is very much in demand in the US. Black fungus, the raw material used in the drink, is sourced from a black fungus farm, where the company cultivates it itself. The company is also engaged in private labelling for various beverage products.
The packaging and bottling facilities used by the company are safe and environment- friendly. The company claims to be a pioneer in Taiwan in export of beverages. Though the company is not engaged in marketing, it has partnered with local partners from various countries for distribution and creation of awareness about the products.
Announcing the company’s future plans to media, Chen Shih-Hsiao, manager, Ou-Dean Food Co., Ltd, revealed, “We are into organic, low-calorie, healthy beverages. We would be expanding our portfolio to meet the rising demand from our customers in the world. We would soon establish factories in Vietnam and Thailand. The reason we choose these places for factory are we have plants which are very near to agricultural area from where we source fruits that act as raw material in beverages.”


King's Cook Frozen Food Co., Ltd
The company offers various flavours for pizza, spaghetti and pasta, Chinese and Korean foods, dumpling balls, dimsum and so on, which enable buyers prepare easily at home ethnic and traditional delicacies.
The company has a distinct feature of having two central kitchens spread over 25,000 sq m in size. The raw material for various products are prepared here. The company has 300 employees.
Yuan Chuan-Wu, president, King's Cook Frozen Food Co., Ltd, mentioned, “The company's products are well-received in more than 40 countries, including the US, Canada, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Macau. Designated by Taiwan's major airlines as a food supplier, we have worked with some prestigious enterprises on joint development of frozen foods for wholesale and convenience stores, also promoting products under several brands to be known as top-end supplier of its kind.”
Talking about new launch, Chuan-Wu said, “We are soon going to introduce small-sized pizza crust for restaurants. We would also explore packed frozen food for small families or per person consumption. We are a leading supplier for majority of air, ship and train food in Taiwan.”
Adding further, Chuan-Wu said, “We received the first export order with the help of TAITRA. So this year too, we look to exhibit at Foodtech and Pharmatech show in Taipei organised by TAITRA.”


Day 3
Anko Food Machine Co., Ltd
It is a developer and exporter of machines for various cuisines like Chinese, Indian, Russian, Spanish, and African. Established in the year 1978, the company has 20 years of experience in manufacturing of machines. It develops more than 10 new machines per year as per the customer demand. The company has a customer base of more than 100 in the world. Nearly, 80% of new customers for the company are gained from the official company website which offers various language options.
When asked about exports to India, Robert Ouyoung, chairman, Anko Food Machine Co., Ltd, said, “We are getting lots of queries from India. To cater to Indian market and overcome the language barrier, the company would be soon launching ‘Hindi’ language, the majorly spoken language in India, on their website www.anko.com.tw. One of the biggest clients Anko caters to is Haldiram’s. Now, we plan to focus more on Chennai and North India specially for the ‘chapati’ making machine, our latest development. Apart from having a huge customer base in Taiwan recently, we bagged a huge assignment from Iraq and Syria for customised machines for their traditional Halal food.”
Excited to meet new and existing customers at the event, Ouyoung added, “For the year 2016 we would be displaying new machines for ‘burritos’ and ‘chapati.’ Though since many years its dumpling machines that are very much in demand. Germany and France, in fact, Europe big market for us and we hope to meet new people from this region. ”
 

JNY Food Co., Ltd
The company, scheduled to be an exhibitor at the show, was established in the year 1996. It is one of the leading exporters of ready-to-eat, frozen beef noodles, birds nest soup, sesame chicken, mushroom soup and so on.
Mao-Lung Chen, GM, JNY Food Co., Ltd, said, “We as a company are engaged in customised healthy frozen food. The machines and raw material for various products are procured from Japan & Europe. The noodles are handmade in Taiwan whereas beef is imported from Australia. We are exporting products to Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the UK, China, Singapore.”


The 2015 Edition
During the 2015 edition, the event witnessed record-breaking visitors - 7,500 international buyers. The 5-in-1 event hosted 1,642 exhibitors. In total, it attracted more than 65,000 visitors.
The event proved itself to be the most important destination for food sourcing in Taiwan in 2015. It was arranged by TAITRA. It hosted 56 buyers from 19 countries at the Nangang Exhibition. They participated in 739 face to face meetings. These buyers represented 19 countries, including USA, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan and South Korea.
